What Are Intuitive Leadership Teams and Why Do You Need One?
I felt very alone during my first year of teaching.
I would periodically ask to meet my administrator. If I could, I would have met weekly! Meeting weekly was a big stretch so a monthly meeting was the most I could get.
His style of leadership I would call Laissez-Faire. He allowed his staff to do what they wanted and he would support so they could do what was needed as best as he could.
Unfortunately, I was a new teacher and I really needed some extra support and mentoring to begin my first year.
I often would have conversations about issues and once I shared them, I often left feeling like whatever I had said was absorbed into some invisible “sponge” that negated any truth to what I might have experienced.
Luckily, I finally realized I needed to look elsewhere for what I felt I needed.
I became friendly with some supportive seasoned teachers who were willing to take me under their wing. That was what saved me.
A New Leadership Style Was Born
I looked up to many leaders, however, most leaders are expected to use logic and be goal oriented to get the most productive results for their organization.
I could never quite find the kind of leadership style I wanted, so I developed my own system. I seem to do that a lot!
Research indicates that connection and purpose are critical to keeping people engaged (whether it be in the department or in the community itself).
The truth is that organizations and people are able to sustain their energy creativity when they feel they are doing something that is meaningful; when they feel connected to the organization and they love what they are doing.
That’s why I became what I call an Intuitive Leader.
Becoming an intuitive leader or member means bringing into the organizational culture the experiences of connectedness within the team and in the community they are serving.
Soft skills are typically what companies are looking for, so when someone comes in with a strong ability to connect with others, even if their skill set is lower, an organization will work to adjust and build the skill set for that new team member.
An intuitive leader takes the next step in building greater purpose and meaning for everyone on the team and for the community being served.
Intuitive leadership relates to any team that desires to enhance their connection to their community and with one another. It is also very useful in families and other groups.
Today, I’ll define what intuitive leadership is, what an intuitive leadership team is, why I was inspired to develop this style of leadership, and how you can become an intuitive leader, too!
What is intuitive leadership?
An intuitive leadership team is a new concept that I had been naturally developing without a name attached to it for many years.
It is a group of thoughtful, compassionate individuals who want to make a difference in the world.
Intuitive leadership teams are engaged people who want to be more conscious and reflective in their relationships and love what they do. They play with creativity, being of service, and are positive in their approach to tasks and goals.
Intuitive leadership teams experience flexible schedules in their work and life and enjoy trying new things. They delight in sparking one another with enthusiasm, play and fun.
Intuitive leadership team members grow and sustain programs while creating purpose and meaning for themselves and others. They are authentic, dynamic and real, and combine spirituality with change, and look to make a positive impact in the world.
Intuitive leadership inspires transformation.
What is an Intuitive Leadership Team?
An Intuitive Leadership Team is a type of high-performing team. It’s a group of aware, thoughtful, compassionate individuals who want to make a significant difference for those whom they serve—and for themselves.
The Intuitive Leadership Team are people who consciously approach employing five powerful team characteristics.
The Intuitive Team Leadership System is a conscious approach using five elements to consistently create teams with a new level of connection, self-care, empowerment, healing, synergy and productivity. Each Intuitive Leadership Team represents a unique vision and purpose to light up the world.
Why Is An Intuitive Leadership Team important?
When applied consistently, the Intuitive Leadership method raises a team to new levels of interpersonal connection, self-care, empowerment, healing, synergy and productivity.
Intuitive Leadership can facilitate any kind of team to deliver its product or service in a way that becomes an irresistible gift to the world.
Intuitive Team members connect with each other at the most human level while having fun celebrating and fulfilling their individual and group needs to accomplish their task, purpose, and mission.
How an Intuitive Leadership Team Is Different
An Intuitive Team leadership Team stands out because of:
Greater connection (love and respect palpable) personally and professionally
Ripple effect or exponential impact of transformation (self, team and with community)
Awareness and dedication is enhanced-where self care helps to build team sustainability, and where members want to be world-class
Powerful influencer of doing positive things in the world- that desire to be of service to humanity/High value put on being a contribution to society
There are five elements of an Intuitive Leader: 5 R’s: Real, Respectful, Reflective, Resilient, and Responsive.
The foundation of Intuitive Leadership is that it sees everyone as leader-full. People are not depleted, they are filled with creativity and a sense of worthiness. They pay it forward with kindness, compassion and a win-win attitude. This system enhances people’s growth and happiness internally, with their team, and with their community at large (clients).
An Intuitive Leadership team impacts the community it serves and the individual team members—and its impact ripples out to the world at large.
An Intuitive Leadership team is infused with a strong sense of commitment to being the best—personally and organizationally.
The team powerfully integrates each member’s vision into the group vision, creating a powerful synergy and generating benefits that exceed expectations.
An Intuitive Leadership team supports personal and professional growth. When team members individually become more mindful and present a transformation occurs for the whole team.
An Intuitive Leadership team member brings their spirituality to the table, expressed through their values, attitudes and behavior in the way they serve others. They bring their higher purpose to their work and this connection helps define the spiritual heart of the workplace.
An Intuitive Leadership team requires a conscious leader and members committed to staying present, aware and reflective. This awareness supports self care and group care that sustains the team.
Team members desire to be more than just colleagues—to develop a feeling of love and respect for one another. Sharing deeply throughout their time together builds a sense of care and appreciation that goes beyond any experience of just “working on a project.” The shared experience of meaning, purpose and connection grows within the team and ripples out to everyone the team touches.
Intuitive Leadership Team Example
A CEO from Southwest Airlines shared with me some examples of intuitive leaders.
“Good teams start listening from the day you come on board, because you have something to contribute or shouldn’t be there,” she shared.
She mentioned that many people at Southwest Airlines didn’t have many disagreements because the were all going the same direction and had the same vision.. She stated it that this happened because of having the right people on the bus.
I know as well that building an intuitive leadership team will take more time and energy. It will also feel more fulfilling than any experience I have ever had.
How To Start An Intuitive Leadership Team
ALL five elements of an Intuitive Leadership Team need to be integrated into the team dynamics in order for consistency to be upheld.
This is by far the most slippery aspect of sustaining a highly performing team.
One must integrate the 5 Keys into a team culture.
1) Integrate Consciousness-based (self reflection) Tools
2) Create Collective Synergy
3) Build and Support Intuitive Leadership
4) Connect team members through ongoing traditions
5) Create healing, transformation and miracles
The Best Leadership Style Is Intuitive
A team is only as strong and self-aware as its individual members are. To become an Intuitive Leadership team requires that each and every member is responsible for nurturing the building block of five elements in order to move the team progressively into new levels of performance.
The team leader/members are challenged to maintain a perpetually open mind frame in order for the team to stay productive, enjoy themselves and each other while accumulating greater knowledge and wisdom to apply to each new project or endeavor.
An Intuitive Leadership Team is a powerful learning community that fosters spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional growth. The five elements are the building blocks of a strong and resilient team if you consistently integrate them into the matrix of your team identity and shared purpose.
